Meet Henry, a Prostate Cancer Patient who Chose SpaceOAR Hydrogel and Radiation Therapy

Request More Information

Henry, a patient at the Yale Cancer Center, needed treatment for his prostate cancer. The doctors caring for him wanted to first and foremost treat the cancer, but they also wanted to do everything they could to help ensure he wouldn’t experience any uncomfortable, long-term side effects post-treatment.

That’s why Henry and his medical team opted for radiation therapy along with SpaceOAR Hydrogel to help protect surrounding organs from being damaged due to radiation, which can help protect quality of life for patients like Henry.1

“I have always been a very active person. It [SpaceOAR] has not diminished my ability to do the things I love — and to do more of them. My greatest hope is that it would be available to all persons everywhere.”

SpaceOAR Hydrogel is intended to temporarily position the anterior rectal wall away from the prostate during radiotherapy for prostate cancer and in creating this space it is the intent of SpaceOAR Hydrogel to reduce the radiation dose delivered to the anterior rectum. The SpaceOAR Hydrogel is composed of biodegradable material and maintains space for the entire course of prostate cancer radiotherapy treatment. It is completely absorbed by the patient’s body over time.
