September is National Prostate Health Month which serves to increase public awareness of the importance of prostate health, educate about the risk factors and symptoms of prostate related diseases and advocate for more research on prostate issues, like prostate cancer.Check out the organizations doing their part to help in the fight against Prostate Cancer
To do our part this month, we want to highlight a few advocacy groups that do all of those things 12 months out of year, starting with Prostate Cancer Canada, who is the leading Canadian foundation dedicated to the elimination of the most common cancer in men through research, advocacy, education, support and awareness.
For the last three years, they have put on one of our favorite fundraisers to participate in, which is called #PlaidForDad. Since 2015, Plaid for Dad has been working to help raise awareness and vital research funds for prostate cancer. It has quickly become a fun and easy way for Canadians and Americans to celebrate dad and help the 1 in 7 men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Thousands of workplaces and individuals went plaid through donations, fundraising, and events. The Friday before Father’s Day is officially designated as the day to wear Plaid for Dad. Participants share photos online using the hashtag #PlaidforDad to show their support and help spread the word.
Our team, located all over the globe sends in pictures wearing our best plaid shirts, pants, hats, scarves and blankets to help raise awareness and funds for the cause. Check out some of our favorite pictures from this year:
What’s even more exciting is that this year, Augmenix was recognized as the “2018 Outstanding Achievement Medical/Pharmaceutical Industry” award winner! We are honored to receive the award and can’t wait until Father’s Day next year to participate again!
